Act Up, Show Out is a magazine article featuring a typographic study of San Francisco's famous Castro District that simultaneously raises awareness about the impact of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and the COVID-19 pandemic on the city’s beloved LGBTQ+ neighborhood.
Over the course of four weeks, I researched the history of the Castro and visited the iconic neighborhood, with a specific focus on the typography of its businesses, advertisements, and health-related materials.
